Baby’s First Christmas: ‘Flashing lights, less routine, Care Doc, commotion and crabbiness’
CHRISTMAS IS A time for firsts: your first Christmas as a couple, first as husband and wife, first in a new house, first with a newborn or first with a child that believes in the magic of Santa Claus.
Why dads can’t have it all (Irish Independent interview)
Many fathers are discovering the pressure to be a great parent and to over-achieve at work are fundamentally irreconcilable. Raising kids has always been a challenge, no matter your circumstances. However, for men today, having a family is becoming a particularly fraught business. Unlike previous generations, the pressure on men to be World’s Greatest Dad is relentless. Yet they are also still generally expected to be breadwinner-in-chief. Forget Having It All. New Dad is expected to Do It All.

Online Lives: Benny Finlay – Auctioneer turned parenting blogger
An interview with the Irish Examiner: “I love writing and humour (particular puns and dad jokes) and so decided to combine the two,” he said. It allows me to document life a stay at home dad in Ireland, tell as many dad jokes as is humanly possible, poke fun at nursery rhymes and the embarrassing situations you find yourself in while minding kids, point out the differences of being a male in a predominately female role and just have a level of adult interaction as I go about my daily life.”
I started the He Said/ She Said series over on The Stented Papa’s site
This post was in the running for funniest blog post of the year in the You have to laugh comedy awards too
World Book Day 2017 – I Love Books! (for Blended Parent Network)
This is a shout out to books. I LOVE BOOKS!!
Let me be straight here, I don’t read enough. Don’t get me wrong I still read but I tend to be on the internet, browsing, skimming through articles and posts, picking at the stuff I want to read from news sites etc. or up to my eyes in kids stuff; nappies, playing on the floor, laundry etc. It seems like you never have a chance to sit down and read for pleasure as an adult.
